About Canyonlands National Park

Canyonlands National Park is split into different zones, including the Island in the Sky, The Needles, and The Maze. Each zone is unique in its own respect, and we would suggest only visiting one area per day because it can take hours to get from one to the other.

The Island in the Sky zone is called as such for its bird’s eye view over the stunning terrain; from the many overlook spots, you can see layer after layer of the intricately formed canyon walls.

The Needles zone is known for the sharp rock pinnacles that stick out from the ground; here, you can experience a wide array of hiking trails with something for every hiker level.

Lastly, the Maze zone is a highly remote but beautiful area; it is recommended that only highly experienced and well-prepared adventurers explore the Maze. There are a variety of activities within Canyonlands as well, from boating to stargazing to ranger-led programs.
