Mount Rushmore National Monument, SD

About Mount Rushmore

In South Dakota’s Black Hills National Forest, on the southeastern face of Mount Rushmore lies one of the most famous landmarks in the world. It is pretty hard to miss the four humongous carved faces of legendary USA presidents, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and Theodore Roosevelt. The monument was completed in 1941 with each head at 60 feet high, and now it brings more than two million visitors to the park each year.

Visiting and photographing the marvel of Mount Rushmore will the first item on everyone’s to-do list, but there is still more to do afterward. In and near the park, you can enjoy fishing, rock climbing, biking, hiking, horseback riding, geocaching, and camping. Kids can even join the Junior Ranger Programs, where they will learn about the importance of the national parks through fun activities.
